Lynetta Mae Kurtz

Lynetta May Bird Kurtz, passed away January 30, 2021 at her home in Vernal, Utah. At the age of 87. She was he oldest child of Lyndon and Alta May (Schmidt) Smith Waters Bird, Lynetta was born October 3, 1933 in Bluebell, Utah. She married Wilson Henry Kurtz, they had five children: Chuck (Margie) Gardner; Danny (Mary) Kurtz; Devere (Donna) Kurtz; Willie (Kathy) Kurtz; and Linda (Steve) Welch. She was a great cook. Made the best bread you ever tasted, and always cooked good meals for anyone visiting. They raised large gardens and shared the vegetables with everyone. She shard the work in the fields working side by side with Wilson, driving the tractor, milk the cows, made homemade butter. She worked many years at the Community Church. She canned many vegetables. She made many many quilts that are still being enjoyed, baby blankets, dresser scarves, crocheted many dollies, and baby blankets. 

Lynetta enjoyed going to church as long as she was able. Lynetta had a great love and belief in God. As each of her kids married she was welcoming and supportive of new family members. She was a peace keeper in all situations and good confident to all. She will be sorely missed and continues to have a special place in each of our hearts. 

 She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilson, Devere; sisters, Margaret (James) Adams, Nancy (Mike) Watson; Laura Kay Bird; brother, Kenneth (Aloah) Bird. She is survived by her daughters, Margie and Linda; sons, Danny and Willie; sisters, Lucy (Dean) Ireland, Elsie (Ned) Hardman, Barbara (Bob) Holsted, brother-in-law Glenn (Ginger) Kurtz and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren too many to mention everyone. 

Funeral services will be Monday, February 1, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church (2100 West Hwy 40, Vernal, Utah). A Viewing will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior tot he services. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery. Under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
