Larry Valenzuela

Larry (Cords) Valenzuela passed away on May 27, 2019  just  9 days before her 70thbirthday in Rangley Colorado surrounded by her family.  She was born June 5th, 1949 in Oakland California to LaVelle (Counts) Cords and Robert Norman Cords.  Her parents had decided to name their second born child Larry (regardless if boy or girl) Therefore; she was uniquely named Larry after her maternal grandfather Larry Counts.   She attended grade school in Cupertino California, and graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in Felton California.  She was a typical   blonde California girl that loved to surf, and spend time at the beach in Santa Cruz California sunbathing and hanging out with friends. Larry was a loving, generous, loyal wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.  She lived a very interesting life, residing in many towns throughout the United States.  She had a variety of jobs, one of which was carrying on as a 3rdgeneration employee at Ford Motor Company in Milpitas California.  Her most cherished job was that of wife, mother and grandmother.  Larry lived, loved, and laughed fiercely and deeply.  She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way; she maintained her wonderful sense of humor until the very end of her life. Larry is preceded in death by Grandparents, Larry and Viola Counts, her loving parents LaVelle and Bob Cords, her son Ji Welch, and her husband Leonard Valenzuela.  She is survived by her devoted son Aaron (Melissa) Cords, her big brother Bobby (Cheryl) Cords, her nieces Christina (Cords) Gibbs, Carolyn (Cords) Wormhoudt, grandnephews Joey, Robby, Adam, and Noah.  She was blessed to have 6 grandchildren Shane Welch, Nathan, Shane Cords,  Kansas, Haven and her newest grandchild Logan.   The Cords family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the staff at Eagle Crest Assisted Living, and  Rangley Hospital for their attentiveness and loving care, specifically we would like to thank C. Kenneth Sutton, MD for his compassion and wonderful bedside manner.  In honor of Larry’s life please make a kind gesture to your fellow man.  Donations in her honor may be made to Rangley District  Hospital Eagle Crest Assisted Living @ 225 Eagle Crest Drive, Rangley, Colorado 81648.  A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Entrusted by Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary and Cremation Care.
