Doreen (Turner) Guymon, age 79, wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma, passed away comfortably in her own bed surrounded by loved ones August 5, 2021, in Roosevelt, Utah.

Doreen was born to Wade F. and Catherine (Evans) Turner November 22, 1941, in Columbia, Carbon County, Utah, at the home of her Grandma and Grandpa Evans. At the age of three her daddy was killed in an accident. Two years later Ernest Y. Monson (Bud), became her step-dad and the man she would call dad until he passed away. As a child and teenager mom had some health issues that caused her to miss a lot of school, and so she struggled, but managed to graduate from Carbon High School in 1960. Later that same year she married Theo L. “Don” Guymon” on September 24th. In July of 1977 they were sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple, and we, their four children, were sealed to them.

Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and though she found it difficult to attend and participate in church, her testimony of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon was strong and unwavering.

Mom worked at a lot of different jobs, sewing in two different sewing factories; retail stores; fast food restaurants; and bakeries, decorating cakes. Mom was a crafter and loved to learn new crafts. Some of her most accomplished crafts were cake decorating, creating “Dream Dolls”, crocheting, ceramics, and tole painting. The craft that mom did the best and always wanted to become a professional at was being a “beautician”. That was a dream she just couldn’t make happen, but she was a natural at it and so she did hair in our home for some ladies in East Carbon, as well as for our grandmas. Mom cut and "feathered" our hair as kids, as well as some of our friends, and nobody did it better. Mom was a beautiful crafter with everything she did. She had a way of making something beautiful, something stunningly beautiful. She was very talented that way.

In her younger year’s mom loved the outdoors, whether in her own backyard with chickens, ducks, turkeys, or rabbits, or near a lake where she loved to camp and fish. She always wanted to catch the “big one”.

Mom will be missed so much, but we all know that she will be able to be at peace with herself after a lifetime of various events that brought tragedy, stress, sadness and heartache to her. Perhaps her greatest sorrow in life was the passing of her son Devin Scott in March of 2006. Since she was the first in the family to see him in this life, it’s fair that she be the first to see him since his passing.

Mom leaves here on earth her husband, Theo (Don), Three children: Donald Wade (Carol), Roosevelt UT; Michelle (Bill) Hampton, Clifton CO; Malynda (Brian) Bennett, American Fork UT, Daughter-in-law Susan (Rex Potter), Brothers: Kenneth (Sandy) Turner, Prescott AZ; Ernest (Janna) Monson, Wellington UT. Sister: Pamela (Dean) Simpson, Fruita CO. 16 Grandchildren, and 28 Great Grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 1 Aunt, Bonnie Lue Turner (Salt Lake City)

Preceded in Death by son, Devin Scott, parents and step-dad; sister, Sherilyn Van Otten; grandson, Dustin Bennett.

The family wishes to thank the staff at "The Villa" rehab and care center for the care they provided mom in these final months of her life. Special thanks to Andie who expressed sincere love as she cared for mom. Many thanks to Tiffany from Good Shepherd Hove Care and Hospice for time and care as well.
