William "Bill" Calder

William Harold Calder passed away on April 6, 2022 at his home in Vernal, UT. He was born July 3, 1945 in Modesto, CA to Harold and Sydney Calder and raised in Bountiful, UT with his 4 siblings.  He attended the University of Utah.  He married Kathleen Hoggan on Feb 10, 1971 and they began their life in Vernal that same year where they raised their family.  

Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on Sept 8, 1976.  

Bill and Kathy lived on and operated the family ranch until 1980, he spent the remainder of his years as an entrepreneur and businessman, serving on the Uintah County search & rescue for many years, and with Uintah County Deputy Sheriff which he loved serving the public and citizens of Uintah County. 

He was an active member in the Vernal 4th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served with many callings. 

Bill was a man of many hobbies & interests - Treasure hunting, storytelling, Jewelry making, rock hound, fishing & hunting, raising birds, helping grandchildren with pets, scuba diving, motorcycling, restoring cars, remote control cars & airplanes. He had a ferocious appetite for learning new things and going on adventures.   And most of all he loved all animals, birds and reptiles especially dogs. 

Bill loved history and could tell a story with the best of them. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.  He loved life and everything about it and he especially loved his family. 

Bill is survived by his dear wife Kathy Calder, children; Bret Calder, Riverton UT (Penny) Jana Condos, Pinedale, WY (Gary), Travis Hatch, Peoria, AZ (Alena), Analeis Weidlich, Lake Oswego, OR (Greg), 12 Grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren

Preceded in Death by: Harold & Sydney Calder (Parents), Mac (brother) Calder, Richard Calder (brother), Hank Evans (Great Grandson)
