Captain Weldon, Weldon, WC, Pug, Brother , Dad, or Grandpa Are many names youll hear Weldon S. Chivers called by. All of these names are mere terms of endearment for a man that most were proud to call Friend. He may not have sailed the seven seas, but his life was no less adventurous. Weldon was born Nov 11, 1942 in Vernal Utah to Glen Chivers and Enid Smuin. As an Oil field family they moved often and Weldon found himself growing up in Big Piney Wyoming, Graduating from the Big Piney High School in 1961. His work took him from the oil fields of Wyoming and Utah to a Master Mechanic position at a power plant in Montana to offshore oil fields of Alaska then ultimately gaining his most notoriety as a Halibut Charter Boat Captain in Homer Alaska. As a young man many knew Weldon as a motorcycle racer, racing Flat Track all around the Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado area. Someone said the only reason he won so many races was to kiss the Trophy Girl. Weldon also shard the passion like many others of collecting guns and knives, but typically most of Weldons hobbies involved some type of motorized means, he Raced Motorcycles, Flew Air planes and rode snow machines. And there are more than a few adventurous stories about all of them. Weldon was known for his sense of humor. People may not remember things he said or done, but they will remember how he made them feel forever. He is survived by his Mother Enid Mertz of Layton, his sisters Coleen Edwards of Morgan Utah, Joyce Boren of Lapoint Utah and his youngest sister Shelly Reid of Garland Texas His Brothers Jim Chivers of Ocala Florida and his youngest brother Randy Chivers of Wasilla Alaska. Weldon was preceded in Death by his father Glenn Chivers and his Brother Clay Chivers. Weldon has one son and a Daughter in law, Mike and Jerri Chivers and two grand children Makayla and Dain Chivers all from Kenai Alaska. Weldon had many step children who love to call him Dad Bob Robertson of South Jordan Utah, Haylee Gatti Driscoll of Colorado Springs Colorado, Kris Egan of Colstrip Montana , Andrea Demas of Colstrip Montana , and Juli Michel of Rocksprings Wyoming. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Davis 2nd Ward LDS Chapel. A viewing for friends and family will be 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Vernal Memorial Park under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
