After retiring, Vaudis and Chuck were always together, They cared for his mother, then hers, teaching us the responsibility of being a family and caring for those we love. They enjoyed camping with their children and grandchildren in the mountains and deserts of the Uintah Basin. They spent time during the summer in the mountains getting not only their firewood for the winter, but helping others too-often with a grandson or two along to help. Her last trip getting firewood was at the age of 81, then she was there to help then oversee the stacking if firewood when it was brought to her home.
