Vaudis Winn Crow

Vaudis Winn Crow, age 93, of Vernal, Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and sister, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on August 4, 2017. She was born August 25, 1923 in Crescent, Utah to Morris and Mary Perry Winn. Veudis was delivered by a Native American Mid-wife at the Winn home. She weighed only 4 pounds at birth and was kept warm in a box placed on the oven door of the wood stove. She was the third of seven children. On April 20, 1943 She married her sweetheart Charles Wesley Crow in Neola, Utah. They were blessed with two children. They spent 65 wonderful years together before he died on April 18, 2008. Vaudis and Chuck moved to Riverton Wyoming for work shortly after they were married. They returned to Neola a few years later, and then moved to Vernal, Utah. Vaudis attended Cosmetology School, worked as a Secretary, helped make saddles for a Vernal Saddle Company, and then worked in an upholstery shop with her sister before retiring. She was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Vaudis was very talented, she loved to sew for herself and others, she painted, made Jewelry, and was a great cook. Karren and Tim's friends always considered the Crow home to be there second home, and Vaudis their second mom. They loved spending time there, especially when greeted with the smell of fresh cinnamon rolls. After retiring, Vaudis and Chuck were always together, They cared for his mother, then hers, teaching us the responsibility of being a family and caring for those we love. They enjoyed camping with their children and grandchildren in the mountains and deserts of the Uintah Basin. They spent time during the summer in the mountains getting not only their firewood for the winter, but helping others too-often with a grandson or two along to help. Her last trip getting firewood was at the age of 81, then she was there to help then oversee the stacking if firewood when it was brought to her home. Vaudis was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. Brothers Eldon "Tug" Winn and Vee Winn, and a sister Mae Freestone all of Vernal, and a grandson, Jayden Stallard of Roosevelt, Utah. She is survived by her children, Karren Crow, and Tim (Ann) Crow both of Vernal. Grandsons Scot (Sareece) Iorg of Roosevelt, Justin "JC" Crow and Derrick Crow of Vernal, seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Sisters Rita Smith and Gwenda Mackay of Venral, and Mary Anne (Jim) Frakis of Duchesne, Utah. Sister's in-law Clea Crow and Evelyn Loranger of Cedar View, Utah and Brother-in-law Fred Crow of Vernal.
