STEPHEN GEORGE OLDHAM Was born February 22, 1945 in Vernal, Utah to Anna Ashby and George Neal Oldham. He had two brothers, Leslie C. and James A. Oldham. He has been a life long member of the LDS Church and has served in many capacities. Steve graduated with the class of 1963 from Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah. After Graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served for 3 years in Fort Hood, Texas and Germany. Steve returned to Vernal and married Dodie Calder. They had two children, Stephen Shay and Jamie LeMar. They later divorced . He married Cheryl Morrison on 12/12/1981 in Glenrock, Wyoming. Steve lived in Wyoming for eleven years where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator in an open pit uranium mine, in road construction and as a truck driver hauling crude oil. In 1981 he returned to Vernal, Utah. He later went to work for Deseret Generation & Transmission for 25 years until his retirement on 3/31/07. His father George, his mother Anna and his brother Leslie C. Oldham preceded Steve in death. His wife, Cheryl of Vernal, survives him. Son Stephen (Nikki), and Daughter Jamie (Jeff) Klaassen of Logan, Utah. Kim (Joe) Boren and Brother Jim (Evelyn) Oldham of Vernal. 14 Grand Children and 2 Great Grand Children. He was notorious for telling stories. Famous for his jokes and playing tricks on his fellow workers. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting and even hauling firewood. He was a regular Mr. Fix-It and had a master s degree in Yankee ingenuity. It was not unusual to find him up and down the street in the neighborhood with the snow blower cleaning sidewalks and driveways or he would borrow a backhoe or skid-steer from Jim to help out a friend or neighbor. His family and friends will sorely miss Steve. We will miss all the ways that he has been happy and willing to serve us. He will not be forgotten. Goodbyes are hard. We will see you soon. Funeral Services are Friday, November 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Davis Chapel (1500 East 4000 South). Friends and Family may call Thursday evening from 6-8 and at the Chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
