On February 2, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends, Shayne Dee Rich, at age 64, returned to his Father in Heaven, to continue his journey into eternity.
He was born on January 29, 1962 to Robert A. and Doris Merkley Rich in Rangley, Colorado. He was the 6th child of 7 children.
Shayne was lucky enough to have found love three times in his life. 1st Tammy Hicks with whom he was blessed with one son. They later divorced. Then he married Charlene Kurth and they were together 22 years, and later divorced. 3rd Tammy Young and they were together until she passed on November 9, 2022.
Shayne was the most kind and generous man you could ever meet. He would be the first to step up and help someone in need. He especially enjoyed helping people that were struggling with addiction. His own experience with addiction made him so very helpful for others that were struggling.
He was a member of the Sons of the Legionaries of which he was so proud. LDS? You bet. Probably prouder of that and our heritage.
Shayne was a man of integrity in any situation he found himself in. He was the most generous and caring man you could ever find. He was always a loyal friend and his family was the most important thing to him. There was a special friendship in Shaynes life. It was with his stepdad. (Bish) They were the best of friends. They called each other Burt and Ernie. Bish used to say that God had sent him an angel to take care of him. Now, he is our angel watching over us. He loved the great outdoors and looked forward to camping, fishing and hunting anytime he could go. He used to say that the mountains were probably what heaven would be like.
Shayne is survived by his Son, Jeffrey Shayne Rich (Chelsea) of Pueblo, Colorado. 3 grandchildren, Draven, Ashlin, and Lucia. Pueblo, Colorado. 1 stepdaughter, Shanley Gagney of Lapoint, Utah. 1 sister Kathryn Kelly Simmons of Lapoint, Utah, 1 brother Jerry Coulson Rich of Lapoint, Utah. 1 sister in law, Glenda Dale Rich of Vernal, Utah. 2 Aunts, Delone Davis Wellington, Utah And Shirley Rich of Roosevelt, Utah And several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by His wife, his parents, (Robert A. and Cleo Smuin Rich) and Everett (Bish) and Doris Goodrich .grandparents, 2 sisters, Brenda Joyce Denman of Albany New York, Wanda Leanne Noel of Grand Junction, Colorado, and 2 brothers, Alan Duane Rich and Robert H. Rich both of Vernal, Utah. A nephew, Coulson Alan Rich.
We love you, Shayne. You will be sorely missed here on earth but heaven is lucky to have you.
