Ronald Edward Mock was born on August 5, 1950 and passed away on July 13, 2017 as a result of a traumatic brain injury caused by an accidental fall that occurred on the evening of July 2. He passed peacefully surrounded by family. He was the first of four children born in New Castle, Wyoming to Edward Howard and Hughla May Stewart Mock. He attended school in Calpet and Big Piney, Wyoming. During his high school years, he was a member of the choir and was team manager for the football, basketball, and baseball teams before moving to Craig, Colorado with his family where he served as the baseball team manager and graduated from Moffat County High School. During his time in Wyoming, Ron worked on ranches/farms in the summer. He enjoyed camping and hiking the hills and mountains. In Craig, he worked for Safeway Stores as a bagger, and in the produce department. Ron served a two-year mission from August 1969 to August 1971 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the San Bernardino / Bakersfield California area. He loved serving the Lord. After returning from his mission he attended Utah Technical College (UVU) at Provo studying diesel mechanics. He later returned to Craig where he worked for W.W. "Shag" Lang, an oil field contractor and later moved to Vernal, UT where he drove and operated a pumper truck before becoming a safety officer and then later, a dispatcher for Haliburton and loved working in the oil field. In October 1983 Ron found the love of his life, Linda Wall and on June 15, 1984 they were married and sealed together for time and eternity in the Provo, Utah Temple. Their lives were blessed with two sons, Edward Ronald Mock and Jason Howard Mock. His son Jason married Shayna in June of 2016 and on June 30th 2017, the two surprised Ron and Linda in a unique and creative way letting them know they would be having another grandchild come into this world, to which Ron and Linda were ecstatic. Ron loved being outside, camping, hunting and fishing. He was always serving others and found great joy in helping everyone he could. He was dedicated to his faith, family, friends, and neighbors. Ron is survived by his wife Linda, sons, Eddie and Jason, daughter-in-law, Shayna, grandson, Donovan. Sisters Marsha Huelskamp and Debra (Mike) Bettis; brother Michael (Kathy), and numerous nephews and nieces, cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward and Hughla Mock. Funeral Services will be Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Glines Stake Center (78 South 2000 West) . Viewings will be on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Jensen Cemetery. He left this life much too early and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the emergency responders, doctors and staff at Ashley Regional Medical Center and the doctors and nurses at University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake. A special thank you to the nurses and staff in the NCCU, and AIM, care units of University hospital who showed great compassion, care and concern for Ron and his family. under the direction of the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary.
