Roger H. Burns

Roger Hendrik Burns of Vernal, Utah returned to our Heavenly Father on July 7th 2015. Surrounded by his family and friends and no longer suffering from his long term illness. Born on April 27th 1944, Roger was the middle son of the late Lowell C. and Lena Burns of Washington Terrace, Utah. Roger was an active member of the LDS church. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer of Holladay, Staci of Ogden, and Rebecca (Bitsy) Hislop of Vernal, Utah. Preceded in death by Tina Burns. Survived by his siblings Andy Burns of Manteca, California, Cheri Garr of Orem, Utah and Steve Burns of Washington, and Charles Burns of Roy, Utah. Preceded in death by Reggie Burns and Randy Burns. Roger graduated from Bonneville high school, upon graduation enlisted in the Navy where he was stationed in San Diego, California. After his term in the Navy, Roger married Alice Feb 8, 1964 and was blessed with two beautiful girls, Tina and Staci Burns. Later married Judy Luck Nov 25, 1972. Roger and Judy moved to The Bay Area later had daughter Jennifer, during that time he enjoyed working for Fantasy Records in Berkley. As a family they decided moved back to Vernal to work for Ute Tribe Enterprises and blessed with his youngest daughter Rebecca. After several years working in hospitality, Roger married Teri and moved to Ogden working for Hill Air Force Base. Divorcing Teri and retiring from Hill Air Force Base, Roger spent winters in St. George and later returned to Vernal, Utah. Roger was known by many as a jovial, fun loving, and adventurous guy. In his younger years enjoyed skiing, golf, and scuba diving in California. During retirement he loved playing with his grandson's Tucker Hislop, Talon (Juba) Hislop, and Michael Campbell. During the summers he enjoyed camping with family and taking long trips on his four wheeler. A special thanks to Lou Harrison for her outstanding help and friendship. To all that helped Roger during his several years battling his illness, we are forever grateful for your kindness, compassion, and willingness to help Roger. Graveside Services will be Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Vernal Memorial Park. With Military Honors provided by American Legion and Utah National Guard. Under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
