Robert "Robbie" McMickell

Robert Lynn McMickell was born in Brush, Colorado on December 4, 1962 and died May 2, 2024  in Vernal, Utah. Robert was born to Forrest Marion “Frosty” McMichael and Eleanor Joan “Tyke” Doyle. Rob was the 4^th of 5 children.

He spent his life in Vernal Utah, except for a short time in Arizona.

Rob went into the oilfield at a very young age, too young to be on the rigs, but he happened to know the driller they fudged his age a little bit. He worked the rigs from woto drill for years.

Rob married Shelley Aiken in 1983 and had one son together Tyler Lynn McMickell, they later divorced. In 1996 he married Terry Rees Sanchez. Together they raised two children, Tiara, Sanchez, and Gabe Sanchez.

Rob stayed in the oilfield working for Mt. West for years. He then went to work at Howcroft Field Service driving trucks. 

Rob had found his passion. He learned a lot and taught the younger guys hiring on. 

He moved many rigs throughout the surrounding states and then some.

When Rob got hurt, he had to have neck surgery and that didn’t end so well. He couldn’t do a lot of the things physically after that. He ended up on disability, life drastically changed for Rob. He and Terry then divorced.

Robert is survived by his son, Tyler, McMichael, and daughter, Tiara Sanchez, son, Gabe Sanchez, and his pride and Joy granddaughter Ryleigh “Cub” Remington, his sister, Ronda Fisher, brother Russell and Brenda McMickell, sister Julie McMickell and Cindy Mogen, many nieces and nephews and quite a few friends.

He is preceded in death by his dad Frosty McMickell, Mom Tyke McMickell, sister, Debra Bowden, nephew Jamie Joe Fisher, all grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and some of his very best friends. 

Robs hobbies were camping, hunting, fishing, riding ATV’s, playing darts, and horseshoes. Anything that involved, family and friends. 

He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
