Robert Gene Olsen

Robert G. Olsen was born to Kenneth and Mary Ellen Jones Olsen on July 21, 1965. On October 8, 2016, Roberts wonderful big loving heart stopped breathing and at last he was set free from his suffering to join his beloved Dad and loved ones in a better place. Robert was born and lived most of his life in Vernal, Utah. His family moved to Salt Lake Valley for employment, living in Hunter and then Bountiful, Utah. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1983. He worked as a mechanic and was employed with Gold Cross Ambulance in Salt Lake City at the time he became ill. It brought him happiness to return to Vernal and live on the families Rock Point Ranch. Robert loved the mountains and deer hunting. He was an excellent marksman. He had a lot of good times with his 4 wheeler buddies in Bountiful especially when they would all go to Moab. Just a few days ago he was able to take that last ride around the Red Cloud Loop road before the snow comes. Robert's sense of humor and sweet spirit will be sorely missed. He made the world a better place. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his mother, His sister, Jennie Lynn (Kyle) Vernon; nephew Lance and niece Megan; also uncles, Ray N. (Dorothy) Jones; Fred (Carolyn) Jones; Aunt, Julia (Gary) Byrom; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Stanley & Martha Jones; Lula Olsen, Paul Olsen and a nephew, Michael Vernon. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rock Point LDS Chapel. (2575 North 1500 West). A viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, and at the Chapel on Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Rock Point Cemetery, under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
