Listen to Obituary

Ray H. Allen passed away October 7, 2025, at the age of 91, in Vernal, Utah. He was born June 10, 1934 to Andrew “Ezra” Allen & Dorothy Reader in their home in Maeser, Utah.

Ray loved to hunt and fish as a young boy, and continued both throughout his life. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S Marines. He even hitch hiked to Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, Utah to sign up. He served during the Korean War, spending most of his time in Japan. His service meant everything to him, and was his whole life. In later years he loved being in the American Legion, mostly to assist in providing Military Honors at funerals for Military Veterans.

Ray married Kona Mar Jenkins and was blessed with 5 children, Terry Ray, Tracy Lee, Troy Andrew, Todd James, Trisha Lyn, 16 grandchildren, and 20 great- great grandchildren.

He and Kona moved from Vernal to Salt Lake City, to go to school and find work. He attended college and obtained an Associate Degree in business and worked for the United Postal Service while attending college. He enjoyed a great and long career with the Postal Service.

We’ve always known dad as a very hard worker, always giving his best. He taught us all to have a great work ethic.

He worked hard throughout his life to serve others. You could always find Ray out working in his yard in Salt Lake, and later in Vernal. He enjoyed cutting wood and hauling it off the mountain, supplying it for him and many others.

Ray was always there to support his children, as coach, scoutmaster, and many other activities. In his later years he was known by many around Vernal as “Charlie Brown”. He loved that nickname.

When he moved back to Vernal, in about 1986, he married Barbara Taylor. They spent 39 years together. He welcomed her 3 children; Raelynn and Brenda, along with 6 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Ray made friends easily and had a lot of them. He will be truly missed by many.

He is survived by children; Terry Ray Allen, Tracy Lee (Lori) Allen, Troy Andrew Allen, Todd James (Mary) Allen, Trisha Lyn (Steve) Allen- Rasmason, Brenda E Jorgensen, 22 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wives; Kona Mar and Barbara, his parents Andrew and Dorothy Allen, 3 siblings, daughter in law Ronda Dorrell Allen, step daughter and husband RaeLynn and Calvin Jorgensen, stepson Robbie W Taylor and grandchildren: Colby Rasmason, great grandchild Nicholas Christen Anderson and great-great grandchild Gracie Lee Jorgensen.
