In loving memory of Peggy Ann Shields.
Born June 12, 1960 Salt Lake City, Utah
Died Sept 18, 2025 Springhollow Care Center Orem, UT after succumbing to dementia.
As the story goes, Peggy was born to Dixie and George Karabatsos in a taxi on the way to the hospital. She attended Tooele High School and was a cheerleader and wrote for the school paper and yearbook for the Buffs. Peggy met the love of her life after he filled the competition’s car full of ice. Ken and Peggy both graduated in 1978.
Peggy attended Hollywood Beauty College and held multiple jobs throughout her life – pharmacy tech, teacher aid, counseling service, used car dealership, dental office, financial advisor, and many others. Her outgoing personality, smile, love for people and laugh helped her succeed in customer service.
Kenn and Peggy were married in Tooele in St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church on Aug 18, 1978 and sealed for eternity in Salt Lake Temple on Aug 13, 1983.
Kenn was her travel mate, side by side chauffer, love of her life, golf partner and most ardent supporter– even during the Queen and tap dance eras.
Peggy enjoyed her time on earth with friends and family. She picked up running and CrossFit later in life and ran multiple races and completed 100’s of WOD’s with Bodies By Nick. She was Ryan’s favorite soccer hooligan, you could hear her chirping at Alex’s hockey games, and was Amy’s personal cheerleader.
You could always find Peggy on the sidelines or behind the glass cheering kids and grandkids following us to football, basketball, and hockey games; archery shootouts; recitals; swim meets, and finish lines.
So many experiences and stories, we would love to hear about it. She will be missed. What time is it? Time to rest. And where are we going? To remember and celebrate Peggy’s life.
Peggy is survived by her husband Kenn Shields, her children Nick (Karen) Shields, Ryan (Ryan) Shields, Amy (Jed) Angus, Alex Shields, her mother Dixie (Ben) Williams, her brothers Greg (Belinda) Karabatsos, John (Jamie) Karabatsos, 7 grandkids and 1 great grandkid.
She is preceded in death by George Karabatsos (Father) and Bernice Johnson (Grandmother)
