Patsy Massey Samuels Rasmussen
January 4, 1935 – March 30, 2026
Born January 4, 1935, in Vernal, Utah, in very humble circumstances to Roy and Edna Massey. Patsy was the fourth of nine children. She Carried strength and resilience of her upbringing throughout her life.
She married John Edward “Jack” Samuels, and together they built a beautiful life, raising five children and creating many treasured memories in Garden Grove, California. Surrounded by dear friends and a wonderful ward family, those years were especially meaningful. They moved back to Vernal and were happy to be surrounded by family. Jack passed away in 1973, Patsy later married Grant Gerber. They enjoyed their time together on the ranch and at the sales barn, filled with laughter, barbecues, games, and love. After Grant’s passing, Patsy later married Max Rasmussen. Together they spent their golden years enjoying family gatherings, holidays, and travel.
Following Max’s passing, Patsy moved to the Maeser Beehive Home, where she formed special friendships and developed a deep appreciation for the caregivers and staff who lovingly served her.
Patsy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her greatest love was her Savior, Jesus Christ and her time in the temple. She spoke with Him daily and turned to Him in all things. She found peace and strength in the scriptures and was devoted to studying them. Her greatest joy, however, was her family.
She had many talents and was especially gifted in crochet. She lovingly created doilies and afghans for family and friends. Patsy took pride in keeping a beautiful, tidy home and yard, and she especially loved flowers. She always had a treat ready for anyone who stopped by, making all feel welcome.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John (Jack) Edward Samuels, Grant Gerber, and Max Rasmussen; her daughter, Jacqueline Betts; her grandson, Brandon Haynes; and her siblings: Doris (Manuel) Izaguirre, Marie (Wayne) Regan, Lewis "Bud" (Janice) Massey, Charles (Elaine) Massey, Betty Jean (Thomas) Montgomery, Morgan Massey, Janet (Larry) Adams, and Utahn Massey.
Patsy is survived by her children: Reid (Ruth) Samuels, Carrie (Shane) Reary, Lori (Larry) King-Davidson, and Edward (Jodi) Samuels. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Maeser 1st Ward, Ashley 3rd Ward Compassionate Services, and the Beehive Home staff for their loving care.Thank you to our family and friends for your support
