Norman R Haslem

Norman R. Haslem passed away surrounded by his family on May 25, 2018 (11:34 a.m.), at his home in Vernal, Utah. Norman was born to Jennie Marie Allred and Niles Reno Haslem on Sep. 14, 1935, in Bennett, Utah.

His family later moved to Vernal, Utah, and he graduated from Uintah High School and later attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City receiving his Degree.

Norman married his life long sweetheart Janna Caryl Openshan, June 6th, 1955 for all time and eternity, in the Salt Lake City temple.

He is the Father to five children: Michael, Caryl Ann, Shari, Karen, and Brad.

Norman worked for Frontier Airlines, on the Flaming Gorge Dam, American Gilsonite, Ziegler Chemical (Mine Manager) and H&H Oil Field Services.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Serving as Bishop of Naples 1st ward and various other callings, favorites were trips with the youth.

Loved to ski and fish, but most of all spending time with family.

Norman is survived by his children: Connie (spouse of Michael) Haslem, Caryl Ann (Ken) Seastrand, Shari (Alan) Calder, Karen (Dave) Cook, and Bradley Glenn Haslem; siblings Nila (Ronald) Batty, David (Barbara) Haslem, Max Haslem, Flossie Walker and Brent (Kathy) Haslem; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law Glenn and Ada Openshaw; brother Jerry Haslem; son Michael Haslem; sister-in-law Eileen (Max) Haslem; twin-sister Norma Shaw; brother-in-law Charlie Walker

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Naples 1st Ward LDS Chapel at 2313 S 1500 E (Hwy 40), Vernal, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Saturday 9:45-10:45AM at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. Services have been entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
