Norma Louise Temples

Norma Temples of Vernal, UT passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Norma was born in Kansas to Victor and Laura Berry. Along with her adoring parents, Norma was also blessed to have 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Near the age of 18 Norma left Kansas city by train to live in Bremerton, Washington to work in a navy yard blueprint room during WWII. There, she acquired many stories enjoyed by the generations of her family; one of our favorites being the time she sneaked onto a ship and climbed all the way up into the “Crow’s Nest”. After a few years, Norma moved back home and later met her husband Taylor Temples. They were married for nearly 70 years and raised 6 children together. After Norma had raised her children into adulthood, she and Taylor made their dreams a reality by building 2 cabins just above Meeker, CO. Together, they would spend their summers there hiking, hunting, filming wildlife(especially bears), and enjoying visits from their children and grandchildren. Like all good grandmas, she would always make sure to have an assortment of freshly baked pies and ice cream on hand and plenty of home cooked meals to make sure it was impossible for anyone to ever be hungry. Norma especially enjoyed sitting by her window watching the dozens of hummingbirds she fed daily as well as watching her beloved horses playing in the pasture. Norma was passionate about many things in life but her most unique quality was her nature to give. Norma’s biggest wish in life was for her family to be happy and to always have all that they needed. She would never hesitate to give anything away to someone in need, even if it meant she would go without. Norma was one of the least selfish people to have ever walked the earth and it is that quality that we will always remember and admire the most. Norma was preceded in death by all of her siblings:Eugene, Howard, Merle, Pansy, Laurine, and Oral; most recently her husband Taylor, and her oldest son Michael Temples. Norma is survived by her children: David (vicki) Temples, Sally (Larry) Young, Linda Johns, Janette (James) Clark, and Karen Kraft; as well as 22 grandchildren and multitudes of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
