Celebrating the Life of Norma Luck McCarrel

Bountiful, Utah — Norma Luck McCarrel, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 88.

Norma was born on July 19, 1937. A long-time and familiar resident of Bountiful, she dedicated many years of her life as a dietician for the local school district's lunch program. It was a role she truly loved, allowing her to brighten the days of countless neighborhood children over the years.

Norma possessed a deep love for gardening and her beautiful flowers, and she took great joy in simply being a good neighbor. She held a particularly strong bond with her dear friends Carla and Mel Kimball. Their decades of shared laughter, watchful care, and close companionship were a source of immense comfort and happiness throughout her life.

In 1956, Norma married her true companion, Gary McCarrel. Together, they shared 51 beautiful years of marriage, building a life anchored in devotion, hard work, and family, until Gary’s passing on May 2, 2007. After many years apart, she is now peacefully reunited with him.

Her greatest legacy remains her family. She is survived by her children, Scott (Rayma) McCarrel and Lisa McCarrel; and her four grandsons, of whom she was immensely proud: Kevin McCarrel, Craig McCarrel, Kyler McCarrel, and Mitch McCarrel.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary, and her parents.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 10 am at the Vernal Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to join at the Cemetery. 

There Norma will be laid to rest alongside her husband with a peaceful burial.
