Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maurine Marler Porter, returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 5, 2025, surrounded by love and family.
Maurine was born on April 18, 1938, and throughout her life exemplified quiet strength, resilience, and faith. On April 22, 1960, she married the love of her life, George Robert Levoy Porter. Their marriage was later solemnized and sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles, California Temple on June 24, 1961—a covenant that became the cornerstone of her life and her family’s foundation.
Maurine and George made their home in Santee, California, where she lovingly raised their three children—John, Maryann, and Cherie—in a home filled with warmth, faith, and care. She dedicated herself to creating a place where her family could grow together in love and gospel living.
In October 1990, Maurine moved to Vernal, Utah, where she built lasting friendships and found peace in the community she came to love. In 1997, she was joined by her eternal companion, George, and together they enjoyed their later years surrounded by family and the beauty of the Uintah Basin.
Maurine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and quietly shared her testimony through service, compassion, and devotion. She found joy in simple things—family gatherings, puzzles, watching Roy Rogers, and enjoying an ice-cold Coca-Cola. Her happiest moments were always with family, especially when surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Maurine is survived by her three children, John, Maryann, and Cherie; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish her faith, humor, and gentle love.
She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, George Robert Levoy Porter, and other loved ones who have gone before her. We take comfort knowing she is joyfully reunited with them and continues her eternal journey in peace and love.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with a viewing at 11:00 a.m., at the Vernal Blackburn Mortuary. Interment will follow at the Vernal Cemetery.
Maurine’s life was one of steadfast faith, enduring love, and quiet service. Her legacy lives on in the family she devoted her life to—and in the eternal hope she carried to the very end.
