Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend Marynell Snow passed peacefully from her earthly life on February 27, 2026.
She was born on September 3, 1931, in Tridell, Utah, to John Golden and Carrie Macel Merkley. She was the sixth of eleven children. When she was four years old, her family moved to Maeser, Utah, where she spent her childhood years.
She met Merril G. Snow in Vernal, Utah, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 20, 1947. Together, Meril and Marynell made their home on the family farm in Jensen, where they lovingly raised five children, whom they considered their greatest blessings.
Marynell found joy in tending her garden, playing games with anyone willing to join, andvisiting with friends and neighbors. She never met a stranger—only friends she hadn’t yet met. Her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, and Scouting. Among the highlights of her service were serving a mission at the Dallas Texas Temple alongside her sweetheart, serving as a temple worker in the Vernal Utah Temple, and acting as scribe while assisting Meril during his service as Patriarch of the Uintah Utah Stake.
She had a deep love for her ancestors and was a devoted member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP). Over the years, she lovingly embroidered hundreds of pillowcases and dish towels, which were sold at the historic DUP Museum to help support its expenses. In 2024, she was honored as the Grand Marshal of the 24th of July parade and celebrated 75 years of faithful membership in the DUP. Throughout her life, she also served in the Uintah Cowbells, the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, and the Singing Mothers. She worked as the postal clerk for the Jensen Post Office for 25 years, where she formed lasting friendships with many in the community.
She is survived by her five children: Ralph (Cathy) of Parachute, Colorado; Mary Lee (Morris) Casperson of Ephraim, Utah; Dorrene (Ric) Francom of Green River, Wyoming; Donett (Stephen) Hiatt of Vernal, Utah; and John (Linda) of Jensen, Utah; and by her sister, Nila (Paul) Luchies of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was blessed with twenty grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mom’s determination and quiet strength carried her faithfully throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sweetheart, her parents, many cherished family members and friends, and her precious great-granddaughter, Preslee Kay. We can only imagine the sweet and joyful reunion as she was welcomed home and embraced once again by her sweetheart and the loved ones who went before her.
