Marvin Gene Richens "Goose" age 68, of Vernal, was reunited in Heaven with his loved ones on May 17, 2016. He peacefully passed away at his sister Beverly's house surrounded by loved ones. He was born August 29th, 1947 in Vernal, Utah to Melvin Eugene and Lois Jean Cook Richens. He was the oldest of 7 children. Marvin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a person who loved being in the country and outdoors. He was drafted into the United States Army and served our Country in the Vietnam War in 1968 thru 1974 (A big thank you for your services). He loved to hunt, trap, fish, the mountains, prospecting and spending time with family. He had the deepest love for his grandson, Ricky Braman. He worked in the oilfield as a roughneck for 20 years and also as a welder. He has traveled to a lot of the states in our country including Alaska and also Canada. Marvin has published four books: Never Again Uncle Sam, Adventures Though Life, The Scare Bear, and Dreams of Reality. He also wrote some songs. He had a heart of gold. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, and we will treasure all our memories together. We love you. He is preceded in death by his parents Melvin Eugene Richens (Father) Lois Jean Cook Richens (Mother) Charles Leon Richens (Brother) Floyd Duane Richens (Brother) Donna Arlene Richens (Sister) Sharon Louise Richens (Sister) and Leona Jean Richens (niece). He is survived by his only daughter, Micah (Rick) Braman; only grandson, Ricky Braman; ex-wife, LeAnn Timothy; sisters, Beverly Richens, Verna (Keith) Peterson, sister-in-law, Alice Richens, and Vickie (Jim) Chadwick; nieces and nephews, Travis Richens, Nik Kayes, Lisa Atwood, J J Atwood, Kisha Nielson, Chasetin Nielson, Jared Peterson, Rhett (Chauntui) Peterson, Taylor Peterson, Haegen Peterson, Bryce Peterson, Clint Peterson, Troy Gregory, Dusty (David) Riding, Trevor (Jolene) Staley, Kingston Staley, Kaylee Staley, Ivorie Staley, Hod Staley, Freddy Lafave, Michelle (Ray) Dumas, Jackie (Ryan) Yamaguchi, Andrea (Robin) Anderson, Jax and Sophie Anderson. Funeral were held Saturday May 21, 2016 @ 3:00 P.M. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. A viewing for family and friends will be Saturday from 1:45-3:00 prior to services; Burial will be in the Rock Point Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion. www.BlackburnVernalMortuary. com
