Listen to Obituary

Marlene Williamson Chivers Gained her angel wings on July 24th, 2026. Marlene was born August 15th, 1948, to Shirley and Wilma Williamson, of Vernal Utah. Marlene was a sweet and loving woman who had a soft and nurturing personality, she would have done anything for the ones she loved. she adored her family and made sure it was known. she would have said her greatest blessing was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Although she was kind, she also had a fiery, spunky spirit and was not afraid to tell you her thoughts, especially when disciplining her children or grandchildren at times she was tough as nails. She loved to give her family a hard time as much as she enjoyed taking it, like bantering with her sons-in-law and grandchildren. She enjoyed most spending time with her family whether it was a BBQ, or just a simple visit at her house, she always enjoyed the company and telling stories of her life, she never failed to give the most valuable advice. There was never a time she parted ways with her family without making sure she said, “I love you”. She loved to write poems and wrote many beautiful poems for people over the years, she enjoyed hunting, boating, riding four wheelers with her husband (Shakey) and adventuring new places in gods’ country. She was very talented at crocheting and made many pretty dolls. Marlene loved her pets just as much as her people and treated them as such. She was an incredible cook, enjoyed making fudge and candy for Christmas, noodles and pies for thanksgiving.

She worked for several years at the school and detention center as a cook and spoke about how much she loved it.

Marlene lived her whole life in Vernal; being the 8th child of 12 made for a busy childhood. She married the love of her life Giles (Shakey) Chivers on April 1st, 1988, and made many lasting memories with him and their children. She and Shakey had two God children that they viewed as their own Randy Griffis, Cristi Burkey and their children.

Marlene is survived by: her children Tonjia Cooper, (Roy) Tracy Cook, (Mert) Jenny Mills. Bonus Children Debra Marshall, Shanna Chivers and Tony Pino, 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren, sisters: Nada, Carol, Lana and Gaylynn. And many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: husband Giles (Shakey) Chivers, bonus daughter Shanna Chivers. Parents Shirley and Wilma Williamson. Son in law Justin Cooper. 3 brothers Wade, Billy and Danny Williamson. Sisters Gaila Thompson, Sherron Boren and Sheila Clark.

At the family’s request there will be no service at this time. But would like to offer the deepest gratitude for all who have reached out with their condolences.
