Margret Arlene Boughan Zufelt

June 22, 1928 — September 13, 2023

Vernal

Margret Arlene Boughan Zufelt passed away Wednesday September 13, 2023 at the age of 95 in Vernal, Utah.

Born on June 22, 1928 in Bayfield, Colorado to Carmen Lopez Boughan and Silas Boughan. She was the oldest and only girl of three children.

She spent her childhood in Colorado.

When she was 15 years old, she moved to Durango, Colorado. She rented a one room apartment and went to work at a creamery wrapping and boxing butter. Later she had an opportunity to work at a bakery. She said it was a fun job making different rolls and icing. She was always an amazing cook.

She worked there until Cliff came home from the military.

In 1945 she married Clifford Zufelt in Aztec, New Mexico. They were blessed with three daughters. Carol, Sharon and Dorene.

Cliff had two jobs. He worked for Deloss Reynolds at his meat plant and he had a dump truck and a tractor. When he was working at the meat plant Margret would load the tractor into the bed of the dump truck and haul it to the pit so she could load the dump truck with sand or gravel and deliver it to customers from Rangely to Duchesne. She could do anything from driving a dump truck to putting a roof on their home while Cliff was a work.

Margret was an amazing grandmother. They loved having sleepovers at her house. She would share her beautiful nightgowns with the granddaughters. She would make bows and arrows from the willow tree in the back yard. Her cookies, popcorn balls and homemade vinegar taffy were favorites of all her kids and grandkids.

She was an adopted grandma to so many. And was loved by all.

Margret is survived by her daughter, Dorene Allred, Vernal; Brother Si Boughan, Sierra Vista, Arizona; son in laws, Perry Johnson, Vernal; Errol Bodily, West Jordan, Utah and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Si and Carmen Boughan, her brother, Leonard Boughan, her husband, Clifford Zufelt, her daughters, Carol Bodily and Sharon Johnson and her son in law, Larry Allred.
