Lila Ruth Goodrich Wilkins, our sweet mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Lila was born on April 16, 1928, in Naples, Utah, and was the eldest of four children born to Wallace Goodrich and Dezzie Roberts. She grew up in Naples and graduated from Uintah High School.
She married Faron Victor Wilkins on June 25, 1947, in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, following his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and family.
Lila loved being a wife and mother. With Faron’s work often requiring him to be away from home, she faithfully carried the responsibilities of caring for their family and home. She lived as a quiet example of hard work, dedication, and commitment.
A homemaker at heart, Lila enjoyed visiting with family, neighbors, and friends, especially while sitting outside on the patio. She served faithfully in many church callings including Primary, Relief Society, and Ward Librarian, as well as serving in the Vernal Utah Temple.
Lila had a love of singing and listening to beautiful music. Her many hobbies and talents included sewing, embroidery, reading, writing, playing board and card games, word search puzzles, and doing family history work. She also took pride in her yard and garden, spending countless hours canning and preserving the fruits of her labor.
Lila and Faron enjoyed many trips to Mesa, Arizona, and Draper, Utah, to visit their son, Duane’s and daughter, Patty’s families. In later years, they enjoyed trips to various destinations, many of them were through Wilkins Transportation charter bus tours.
Though she never wanted to be in the spotlight, Lila had a gift for making everyone she met feel loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Faron; and her sisters, Enid Murray and Marvel (“Billie”) Clayton.
She is survived by her brother, Blaine Goodrich; her sons: Duane (Margie), Stuart (Holly), and Robert (Joanna) Wilkins; her daughter: Pat (Paul) Roden; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Lila’s family would like to express gratitude to all those who have visited and served her, including family, friends, Kim and Tina and other staff at Good Shepherd Hospice, and also the loving and caring staff at the Landmark Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 11 AM at the Vernal Fourth Ward Chapel at 235 E 600 S. A viewing will be held at the Church prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM.
