Lanore Johnson Lance age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 3, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 10, 1938 to Benjamin Franklin Johnson and Katie Merle Smuin at their home in the Davis area. She was the fifth of eleven children.
She married Darrell Lance April 10, 1954. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. They shared 63 years together before he passed away in 2017.
They are the parents of 5 children: Kathy (Randy) Deets, Shanna (Terry) Hadlock, Kyle (Kerry) Lance, Geri (Francis) Benedicto, and J’Lene (Aaron) McCracken.
Lanore was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she diligently fulfilled many callings including serving in the Vernal Utah temple which she loved.
Mom willingly followed the example of the Savior through her unwavering service and love to others.
She was blessed with many talents and abilities. Many hearts and lives have been touched by homemade rolls and chicken noodle soup or a hot meal. No child was ever unheard or unloved.
Hearts and homes are filled with reminders of her. Homemade quilts cover beds, oil paintings adorn walls, there are crocheted rag rugs at our feet, and painted dish towels in our kitchen drawers.
Mom worked hard at home, planting summer gardens and growing raspberries, canning fruits and vegetables and helping dad on the farm. She lived her life dedicated to her family.
Lanore is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, as well as 23 Grandchildren, 50 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, that she loved very much.. She is also survived by 3 siblings, Donna Rasmussen, Carole Gardner, Benjamin Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 7 siblings.
“Granny” will always be loved and remembered by all who knew her.
