LaVern Steward

Laverne E. Steward, age 69 passed away October 12, 2012 at her home in Vernal Utah due to complications of COPD. She was born on April 16, 1943 to Louise and Ray Coughlin in Boulder Co. Laverne was married to Melvin Steward, they later divorced. They had one daughter Becky (Nick) Valdez of Vernal. Laverne is survived by her siblings Mary Lou (Dick) Vinzenz of Lake Havasu Az. ,Shirley (Don) Wilson of Yucca Az., Dan (Debi) Coughlin of Evanston, Wyo. She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Louise Coughlin and Brother Mickey Coughlin. And late husband Melvin Steward. Laverne was owner/operator of Laverne and Shirleys Ice Cream parlor from 1985-1987 until they closed the doors and decided to adventure on again, with her husband and sister to open, The Laverne and Shirleys Conoco in 1988. They stayed in business for 17 years, until 2005 when they both retired. Laverne spent the remaining years enjoying her two youngest granddaughters Talitha and Tawnie, and watching them grow and mature. Laverne had 13 total step grandchildren and 25 step Great Grandchildren. A viewing will be held Tues. Oct 16, 2012 at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held Wed. Oct 17 at 11:00am at mortuary under the direction of Blackburn Mortuary
