LaRaine Akelund Hatch Murray, age 89, passed away peacefully November 5, 2020 in her home of natural causes. She was born October 11, 1931 in Leota, Utah to Alfonzo “Pete” Akelund and Marjorie Cloward Akelund. She was first married to Donald “Shorty” Hatch and they had three children, Sandra, Robert and Patricia, then later divorced and married Joseph Glenn Murray. They had one daughter Lainey and four step-sons that she loved as her own, Glenn, Mike, Randall and Scott. Joe preceded her in death in 2017.
LaRaine loved to be outside whether it’s in the garden or up on the mountain chasing cows. She was an amazing cook, all the kids loved her french fries, Granny soup and baked goods. At family reunions her pies were always requested. She was also an incredible quilter and every stitch was sewn with love. Whenever there was an upcoming marriage or baby coming into the family, you more than likely received a handsewn quilt from LaRaine. She and Joe enjoyed following the Uintah Wrestling circuit starting with their son Scott and many family members later through the years. Horse Racing was a huge past time for the family too, something she enjoyed immensely.
LaRaine is survived by her sister Velda Akelund Wilkins, her daughter Sandra Hatch Young, her son Robert Hatch and his wife Robin, her daughter Patricia Hatch Santiago and her husband Pete, her stepson Scott Murray and his wife Jodie, her step daughter-in-law Linda (Michael) Murray and her daughter RaLaine “Lainey” Murray Thomas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jonathan and Cadence Young, Derek and Michelle Young, Quentin and Dana Young, Merridy Young; grandchildren, Carlina and Matthew Bertoch; Trent and Brandon Hatch, Robyn and Shadd Thayne, Jeremy and Michelle Williams, Wilson Thomas and Kaycee Thomas, Julie Murray, Becky and Kirk Dunkle, Tess and Jonathan Olschewski, Michael Murray Jr., Weston and Mandy Cammack, Erin and Josh Horrocks, Meagan and Jordan Hadlock, Tyson Cammack Jayson Murray, Randie Jo Murray, Tiffany and Jess Reed, Barry and Nikki Murray, Kenneth Murray, Kixx Neilson and Shania and Mclane Rowley, plus numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
