Joelyn Pedersen

Joelyn Holt Pedersen, age 67 of Vernal, Utah, joyfully went to live with her beloved Heavenly Father, Savior Jesus Christ and numerous family members on July 26, 2018.  She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, from complications due to pancreatic cancer. Joelyn was born on September 29, 1950 to Heber Wayne and Marilyn Rosamond Snow Holt in Cedar City, Utah. She grew up in a loving home in Beryl, Utah with the best parents anyone could ask for and as the only sister of her four brothers; Kent, Kevin, Kim and Klayton Holt. She graduated from Enterprise High School, Enterprise Utah, in 1967 and received her LPN license in Cedar City, Utah in 1968. Joelyn was sealed to her eternal companion, Larry Douglas Pedersen, on July 5, 1969 in the St George Utah LDS Temple. Joelyn and Larry lived most of their 49 year marriage in Vernal, Utah where Joelyn devoted her life to her husband and their six children; Courtney Douglas Pedersen of Vernal, Adam Ryan Pedersen (Jamie) of Wellington Colorado, Cynthia Mattinson (Rodney) of Vernal, Lisa Hall (David) of Puerto Rico, Charles Fredrick Pedersen (Danyel) of Lapoint and Stephanie Davis of Vernal. The last few days of her life she was so excited to tell everyone that she and Larry made it to the 50th year of their marriage. She was also grateful beyond measure for all of the family and friends who surrounded her during the last few weeks. Joelyn was a loving wife, mother and daughter who did all she could to make her husband’s, children’s and parents’ lives enjoyable.  She always worried about, and put the needs of her family and friends before her own. She would sacrifice anything for those she loved. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and do crafts of all kinds. She made countless dresses for her daughters and almost everyone she knew was blessed with a quilt, blanket, afghan, stuffed toy or other item that she made with love.  Although Joelyn struggled with many health complications which confined her to her home much more than she desired throughout her life, she kept her testimony of Jesus Christ and of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Joelyn was survived by her husband, 6 children, 19 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, three brothers and mother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents Heber Wayne and Marilyn Rosamond Snow Holt, two brothers Courtney Wayne Holt and Stanford Kim Holt and father-in-law Willard Max Pedersen.
