Jesse Darlene Clark Benner, age 78, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Ashley Regional Medical Center. She was born November 5, 1938 in Vernal, Utah to Howard J. Clark and Leona Mae White. During her growing up years in the basin she was known as Darlene or Dee, and in later years as Jesse. She loved crocheting, gardening and flowers, but most of all she loved her family. She has five children, Gerie Shiozaki of Vernal, Troy (Laurie) Smuin of Vernal, Patricia (Jed) Tate of Blanding, Lisa Anderson (deceased), and Lonnie Anderson of Delaware. She was the oldest of three girls, her identical twin sister, Arlene (Jay) Slaugh of Vernal, and Leona (Larry) Richardson of Vernal, as well as siblings Steve Clark of Heber City, Harold (Connie) Henroid of Manti, Alene Wahlen (deceased), Sandra (Boyd) Williams of Lewiston, Montana, Kenneth Clark of Odessa, Texas, Oliver (Janette) of Vernal and Kathy Judd of Summit. She has 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Darlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and most recently served as a Visiting Teaching Coordinator. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Howard and Leona, husbands Pat Smuin, Duane Anderson and Michael Benner, daughter Lisa Anderson, grandson Merlin Sprouse, brother David Clark and sister Alene Wahlen. There will be a viewing on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Blackburn & Sons Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am the Vernal Memorial Park. The Family would like to express our love and appreciation to Aunt Arlene for her unselfish care of our mother for these past years. As they both have said, "They were not joined at the hip, they were joined at the heart." We would also like to thank Dr. Woodward for his many years of medical care, Valley Home Medical and Ashley Regional Medical Center, the staff and those out on the floor that took care of her in her time of need.
