Iliff Gardner

Iliff "Pink" Lorenzo Gardner passed away peacefully, in the Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Utah May 27th, 2017. He was born March 24th, 1926 in Neola, Utah to parents, Rex and Zella Gardner. Pink was exited from the Central Utah Veterans Home with honor under an American flag as staff lined the hallowed halls with respect. Another American flag covered his bed in the room he left behind - that flag will remain on the bed in memory of this great man until a new veteran moves in. Iliff "Pink" Gardner enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 - he was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Fern L.Burton in 1946 after serving his country. They Lived in Kearns, UT then moved to Vernal, UT in 1969. Pink mastered various trades in his 91 years- Diesel Mechanic, Truck Driver, Welder, and Irrigation engineer to name a few. He enjoyed camping, farming / ranching, building things, and oddly enough, hard work. Pink took great pride in his hard work and perfection as there was never a job or project he had to re-do. Pink Gardner was a sweet, hard-working man, who literally would have given the shirt off his back if needed. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Iliff is survived; children, late Jay Gardner, late Stephen Gardner, and Becky DeCol; (Husband: Rob DeCol) 6 grand children and 9 great grand children.; sisters, Hattie Lou Jensen, Audrey Substead, and Claryn Gardner. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Garth Gardner, Glen Gardner, Chell ToddElden, Dahl, Illiff, and Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Rockpoint Chapel (2575 North 1500 West). Burial will be in the Neola Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and the Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
