George LeRoy Gerber

George Leroy Gerber, age 95, of Vernal passed away, November 2, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 22, 1918 to George Moroni and Lillian Jane Gerber in Granger, Utah. He married the love of his life Helen Lee on November 25, 1981. George was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a Production Controller working there 26 years before his retirement. George was a member of the Elks Lodge of Ogden & Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, bowling, fishing and when he was younger motorcycling. George loved to read and was always informing everyone of a healthier life style. He was quick with a smile and always happy to see you whether you re family or not. He will be greatly missed and loved by many. He is survived by his wife, Helen; sister, Ivy Lindsey of San Deigo, California; sons, Larry (Ranae) of Layto, Duane (LeAnn) of Cedarville and Dennis (Kathryn) of Fruit Heights; daughter, Jannett (Tom) Bailey of Lehi; step daughters, Jeanne Rushing of Vernal, Pamela (Max) Redmond of Cornville, AZ; and Susan Ezell of California; 10 grandchildren, many step grandchildren, several great grandchildren & many step great grandchildren which he loved them all. George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Conread, Glen and Arl; sisters, Arlettie, Mary; and Laura; former wifes; Norma Johnson mother of his children; Nell Ogden of 11 years. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 12 noon at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends and family may call at the mortuary for viewing from 11:00 to the time of services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, services are under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
