George Martin Coonradt passed away September 17, 2025 in Vernal, UT at the age of 89. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Danforth Coonradt II and Arminta Manwill on January 28, 1936.
George graduated from Granite High School in 1956 where he was active in many sporting programs. He served for 2 years in the National Guard as an MP.
Dad spent his life working in the Construction Business. He worked on the construction of the Flaming George Dam and the construction of the Eisenhower Tunnel. He operated his own business, Coonradt Construction, doing General Construction and Tile work.
Dad was the owner operator of Spirit Lake Lodge for 30 plus year. It was there; he made many friends and kept the Legend of Big Foot alive.
Dad loved being with family and friends, playing guitar and singing, hunting, fishing and working in his yard. Dad was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has served in many callings including being a temple worker. For many years dad taught the Gospel in the Vernal Jail where he made a difference to many.
George is survived by his wife Dixie Jones Coonradt and brother Gene, children; Jennifer Johnson (Doug), David Coonradt (Pam), Diane Hansen (Glen), Mark J Coonradt (Valerie), George JR Coonradt (Tasha), Amber Coonradt, 18 grandchildren, 46 Great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Barbara, and brothers Danny and Leo.
Funeral Services for George Martin Coonradt 89, of Vernal are pending for Tuesday September 23, 2025 at the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel 11 AM (3040 North Vernal Ave)
Viewings will be Monday 6-8 PM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Tuesday at the Church 10-10:45 Burial will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 11.
