Frank Charles Sizemore

On October 15th, 2019 or beloved Friend, Father, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle, Brother-in-law, Cousin, and Husband Frank Sizemore passed away from complications due to COPD.  Frank C. Sizemore was born January 14th, 1947 in Hayden Colorado to Roscoe M. and Avis M. Sizemore.  Frank grew up in Rangely Colorado, but spent his summers in Meeker at the Sizemore resort, packing and guiding hunters for his Grandparents business.  Frank attended Rangely K through 12, graduating High School in 1965.  Frank lettered in football and wrestling, competing at the State level in wrestling.  Frank was a huge Panther fan and enjoyed supporting all high school sports. 

Frank played the drums in the Rangely High School Band and this inspired Frank and some of his close friends to start a band of their own called the “Whirlwinds” and later another called The Westernairs.  Frank loved to play music and dance.  They played all over Northwestern Colorado, Denver and even parts of Utah. They recorded several singles, No Sweeter Love, The 7th Virgin, an Bra Strap Boogie just to name a few.  One of Franks favorite memories was playing for the Teen Canteen at Elks Park.  Franks music career provided him the opportunity to play for greats like Charlie Pride and Donna Fargo.

Frank began his oil field career at the age of 15 and remained there until 2008.  Once owning his own oil field Companies, Franco Oil and Gas Lease Maintenance, and Sizemore Oil Field Services.  Frank worked on drilling rigs and workover rigs for R & R Well Services, Colorado Well, and was a plant manager for Cascade Natural Gas.  

Frank was very community minded, he was a volunteer Fireman, ambulance driver.  He was involved in many community organizations and clubs like the Rangely Rock Crawlers, and the “Over the Hill Gang” snowmobilers.  Frank was very committed to supporting his hometown through the Rangely Panthers Booster Club, athletics, FFA, and the CNCC Spartan athletes and foundation.  Frank was proud to be a lifetime member and supporter of the Rangely Elks Organization

Frank married Lois Kincher in 1966 and had two children, Laura Sizemore Jackson (Shad) and Lance Sizemore (Gretel).  In 1980 Frank married Diane Hellem Sizemore and enjoyed 39 years together at the time of his death.  Frank enjoyed a special relationship with his granddaughters Britni Jackson Rich King, and Meghann Cuch, his great grandchildren Dace, Andrew, and Jack Rich, Nova King, Ah-Sun-Nas-Bah Yazzie, Nadja B, and Mathias Wallberg, as well as his niece, nephews and many cousins. 

Frank was preceded in death by Roscoe M. and Avis M. Sizemore, Oscar and Lula Sizemore, Cimmeon and Helen Peavey, and James Sizemore.

Frank is survived by his wife Mrs Diane Sizemore, Daughter, Laura Sizemore Jackson (Shad) and Son, Lance Sizemore (Gretel), Sisters, Dianna Sizemore Mobley (Terry) and Janet Sizemore Pittman Hume, Niece, Renee Mobley (Blake), Nephews, Nick Pittman and Scott Pittman, Aunt, Hazel Sizemore Edwards, and many cousins.  

At Franks request there will be no funeral, but instead he wanted to be memorialized in you hearts and minds through donations being made to the following: Rangely Panther Booster Club, Rangely District Hospital and the CNCC Foundation Board.  Please feel free to go to Franks Facebook page and leave messages of condolences, fond memories and heartwarming stories.
