Our beloved Fran returned to her Father in Heaven on May 2nd, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in the St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born February 20th , 1939, to Floyd and Birdie (Witmer) Allen of Vernal, Utah. In her early years, Fran loved playing music with her parents and that love for music grew throughout her life. She was also known for her bright personality at school and was a socialite with her friends. Involved in every school activity and local social event, Fran was often found in the center of the fun with her two sisters, Linda and Kathy.
After graduating from Uintah High, Fran attended BYU, where she fell in love with education and college sports. She soon graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and quickly gained the reputation of being a brilliant educator and even better mother to her three children: David, Clark and Elisa. Fran loved teaching the kids at Central School, Discovery Elementary, and Davis Elementary; all while watching her own kids thrive in academics, on stage, and in both high school and college sports.
She had the innate ability to give anyone her undivided attention and, at that moment, make them feel like the most important person in the world. During this time, she also tapped her love for music and joined a local orchestra with her daughter. There, they fostered amazing relationships with many throughout the Utah music community. Fran had a tremendous impact on the lives of too many to list both in and out of the classroom.
Just when she thought her life was at full measure, Fran became a grandmother. Her grandkids became the center of everything in her world. She quickly became the ideal cheerleader, coach, mentor, tutor, and friend to each of them. It was not uncommon to find her kids and grandkids huddled around her TV watching sports and working on homework together. Fran’s every breath was focused on helping and encouraging each of them to be the best version of themselves.
In short, Fran touched lives in ways that we will never be able to recount. Her dedication to her Savior was unmatched and we know without a doubt that her entrance into the Celestial Kingdom is absolute. She was the embodiment of Christ-like love.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Leland Floyd Allen and Birdie ElMay (Witmer) Allen; her brother-in-law and sister: LaMont and Linda Raye (Allen) Blackham; brother-in-law: Terry James Caldwell; her daughter-in-law: Tina Jean
(Phillips) Emery; and her great-granddaughter: Liv Ann Edwards.
She is survived by her sister: Kathleen Kay (Allen) Caldwell; three children: David (Mari) Scott Emery, Clark (Deborah) Lee Emery, and Elisa (Landon) Lee Vredeveld; 13 Grand Children; 26 Great-Grand Children; and great many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Free at last our fabulous, fine friend Fran: God be with you ‘till we meet again.”
