Elaine Johnson Coon--- was surrounded by her family as she returned to her Heavenly Father, February 26, 2017 in Vernal, Utah. She was born, December 22, 1926 to Bert & Myrtle Johnson in Provo, Utah. She had 4 brothers and 1 sister. Elaine grew up in Provo, Utah, around her extended family and grandparents. They had many happy days together. After graduation from high school, she attended the Provo Trade Tec. studying book keeping and accounting. While, attending the technical school, she went on a "blind date", ice skating. This is where she met the love of her life, Everett Coon. They were married on May 1, 1947, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Later, they were sealed in Logan Temple, July 8, 1957. You never saw one without the other, always holding hands. They really enjoyed each other's company. Everett always called her his "Honey Bug". She always supported him in his auctioneering. They had to travel some with their auctioneering. Finally, they moved to Vernal in 1954, where they built the Vernal Livestock Auction. She was always on hand to keep the books and help keep things rolling. After, they sold the Livestock Auction; they bought a gas station in Naples and named it "E & E Service. They had always enjoyed working together in their businesses. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she has taught in Sunday School, YMMIA, Mia Maids, and Primary. She has served in the Relief Society presidencies, Stake board as a Mia Maid leader, Mother Education Leader. She taught Cub Scouts & 4-H. Elaine loved the out of doors. Camping, fishing and hunting with her family were the top of her priorities. She loved gardening & canning. She had a real love for any kind of sports and she could tell you about any status or rankings they may be setting. She was very active and full of energy. But, the most special jewels & gems in grandma's life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Elmo, Dick, Nels, 1 sister, Phyllis and her husband, Everett. Elaine is survived by her brother, George Shirl "Pete"(Ann) Johnson, her children, Evelyn (Clark) Hatch, Vernal, David (Helen) Coon, Jensen, Utah, Perry (Julia) Coon, Spanish Fork, Utah and Tad (Terri) Coon, Surprise, Arizona. She has 15 grand children, 41 great grand children and ONE blessed life of beautiful posterity. She left behind a great legacy and set a great example of strength and love for her family and the Gospel. She just turned 90 this past December. Funeral Services for Elaine Johnson Coon, 90, of Vernal will be conducted Friday March 3, 2017 at 11 am at the Vernal Stake Center (850 West 100 North). Friends and Family may call Thursday 6-8 pm at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Friday at the church 9:45-10:45 prior to services, Burial will be in the Jensen Cemetery, under the direction and care of-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
