Donnell Robie Sr.

Donnell Ralph Robie, Sr age 85 of Rangely, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on 7-7-2023 at the Rangely Long Term Care. He was born June 13, 1938 to Ralph and Fern Robie in Russell, Kansas.

He attended many schools during his educational days. In 1954 he returned to Bunker Hill High School for his Jr. and Sr. years. He graduated from there in 1956.

After attending college in Casper, Wyoming he enlisted in the Navy and earned the rank of Quartermaster 2nd class. He served on the USS General Mann and the USS AD27 Yellowstone. He served on both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Donnell received an honorable discharge in September 1961.

He married Carolee Langhofer August 6, 1960 at the Bible Baptist Church in Russell, KS.

Together the two finished one year in the Navy, with 6 months in Fall River, Massachusetts and 6 months in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. After his discharge they moved to Rangely, Colorado. It was there they were blessed with two sons. Donnell Jr., and Rory Travis. He loved hunting and fishing with the two of them. He never missed an athletic event for either of them.

During his years in Colorado he worked for his father in the oil drilling business. Later he owned his own cable tool drilling rig (which is now housed at the Museum in Rangely), and was self-employed. In 1971 he changed professions to the electrical business. He owned and operated Donnell's Electric, with offices in Rangely and Meeker, Colorado. He was blessed to have his sons work with him in the later years. He served on the Colorado North Western College Board for four years.

After accepting Christ as his personal Savior he was active in all the churches he attended. He was a charter member and ordained as a Deacon in Bible Baptist Church in Rangely, Co. He served as Deacon at the Bible Baptist Church, Camdenton MO, and Bible Baptist Church of Russell, Kansas.

He had a special burden and love for Mission work in Belize. After his retirement many trips were made with Pastor Tucker and other groups. He first worked with the Mayan Indians at Golden Stream, and later with the Belizians in Belize City. He referred to himself as a Missionary Helper. Donnell was instrumental in building a church for the Mayans in Golden Stream, and started work for one in Belize City (when his health did not allow him to make any more trips other Christians carried on the work). The church was completed in Belize City during 2017. To this day he still has contact with both of these Pastors. He was able to make the final trip for the dedication with his grandson Trey.

He retired and moved to the Lake area in Camdenton, Missouri in 1991. He enjoyed boating and fishing on the lake home with his sons and family. Especially the grandchildren. He had the privilege of working for his son's electrical business from time to time at RR Electric.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Donnell Jr, and grandson Tyler James Robie.

He is survived by his wife, Carolee of the home, his son Rory Travis (Marty) of Rangely. One sister Claudette (Walter) Cranor Columbia, MO. Daughter in law Karen (Casey) Wilder of Fruita CO. Five grandchildren Donnell Robie III (Candra), Rangely, Nichole (Jared) Graves Minot ND, Tiffany Skelton (Greg), Rangely, CO., Natasha Peterson (Brian) New Braunfels, Texas, and Allina Robie of Uzhorod, Ukraine
Eleven great grandchildren Taytum Robie Vaughn, Rylee, Bailey, and Zoe Robie. Savannah
