Deborah "Deb" Sue Pflieger

September 17, 1955 — April 10, 2024

Vernal

Deborah “Deb” Sue Pflieger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many went home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2024. She was born on September 17, 1955 in Sterling, CO. Deb loved animals from her earliest years, especially her dogs and cats, and always had one of her beloved animals by her side. Her family moved to Vernal when Deb was a toddler and she began a love affair with the Uintahs that would last the rest of her life. She was an avid hiker and never missed a Summer spent camping in the aspen trees on Taylor Mountain. Deb’s love for the outdoors was infectious, as she worked tirelessly to remove trash from the mountain and had no tolerance for the treatment of public lands as trash cans. Deb also had an expansive and eclectic love of music and paused it only for moments of quiet with nature and her family. She enjoyed gathering wildflowers and spent her retirement years searching for them across the country’s national parks.

Deb graduated from Uintah High School in 1973 and moved her life to the mountain for her early adult years. After unknowingly crossing paths twice, she met Dennis Pflieger while working as a waitress in 1976 and the third time was the charm. The two were married in Kane Hollow on July 31, 1982 and had two children, Ashley and Lance. Deb and Dennis instilled their shared love of the outdoors and music in their children and grandchildren and spent countless days in the sun and snow exploring the forest, playing games, and tracking critters. Deb was also an ardent believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and for years upheld her faith as a practicing Baptist. She participated in regular Bible Study and loved the friends that she found in shared faith. Deb was truly loved as a friend, sister, mother, grandmother, and wife and lived her faith in how she expressed and acted on her love for the many family and friends who will sorely miss her warmth, humor, and strength. She also kept a quiet practice of charity, regularly supporting organizations caring for veterans. Through adversity of her own, Deb kept her humor and strength, never disconnecting from the practice of love that tied her to family, friends, and nature.

After a brief illness, Deb passed at home, surrounded by her family and the love of many friends. She is preceded in death by her infant son, Brandon Slaugh, her parents, Bob and Yvonne Sharp, and her sister Sharon Lee. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Pflieger, two children, Ashley and Lance, two grandchildren, Ryan and Kesley Crow, and two brothers, Kevin and Stephen Sharp. Those who wish to honor her memory are invited to donate to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in her name.

A Celebration of Deb's life will be held for April 26th at The Stone Hollow Event Center from 4-7 PM
