David Eaton

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of David Edgar Eaton. He was born on January 19, 1977 in Provo, Utah and was immediately welcomed into the loving arms of his father and mother, Nick and Rosa as their eldest son. He was later joined by two brothers and partners-in-crime, Garrett and Nicholas Jr. . Dave graduated from Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah in 1995 and then pursued various jobs and adventures, including working at Zion National Monument. He met and married his most prized companion, Sarah Jane, in 2004. They then moved to Logan, Utah to attend Utah State University. David graduated with a Bachelor's of Science from USU in 2007 before moving back to Vernal to pursue his love of the natural sciences. David had the pleasure of working for Tri-County Health Department in the fall of 2008, and began running their water sampling lab shortly after. He loved working with his colleagues and making a difference in the Health Department and his community. He enjoyed hiking, camping and loved everything Star Wars related. David's comic book collection was a great source of delight and he attended comic conventions each year with his wife and friends. David was very proud of his achievement of Eagle Scout and encouraged others to reach the same accomplishment in the Boy Scouts. His love of animals gave away how tender his heart was, even when he played the cool guy. He couldn't turn away a furry friend in need. David and Sarah shared a great admiration and respect of animals, especially their cats and guinea pigs. David passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane, his parents Nick and Rosa Eaton, and his siblings Garrett (Zinna) and Nicholas Jr. (Stephanie). He has numerous wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and he will be sorely missed by his dear friends and fellow geeks. David had an ongoing struggle with depression and anxiety that was no longer manageable. If you or a loved one are struggling with mental health concerns, PLEASE seek help and support in your fight. You are not alone in your pain, and there are healthy alternatives and options available all around you. Funeral services will be Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Naples LDS Ward Chapel (2313 South 1500 East). A viewing for family and friends will be at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Thursday from 6-8 PM and at the chapel one hour prior to the services.
