David Broome

God called Dave home on January 9, 2013 David Ray Broome was born on December 20, 1950 to Loyal H. (Tunney) and Claris (Young) Broome. Raised in Willow Creek, he moved to Vernal and attended Uintah High School. While at Uintah High School Dave became the wrestling state champ. This earned him two scholarships to Weber State University. Dave had a passion for his horses and he loved to rope with his best friend and partner in crime his grandson Steven. Whenever the chance was given, these two cowboys would load up and head to any roping arena that they could find. Dave was a golfer. If he was not in a dusty arena he was on the golf course, and if he was with his brothers or with Skinny McKinney you knew there would be a whole lot of competition going on, and these guys loved it. Dave has been all over the United States as a pipe liner. He helped put in the Alaska Pipeline as well as the Kern River Pipeline. He loved working on the Right-of-Way. He was a pipe line supervisor for R.J. Taylor. He had a group of guys that were not just his hands but he considered them as very good friends, and he would talk about how proud he was of them all of the time. Dave was an all-around hand from the front to the back when it came to the pipeline, he had been there and done that. He knew it all. God took home a husband, a dad, a brother, an uncle, and the best grandpa his grandchildren could ever ask for. It was nothing for him to show his grandchildren how to swing a golf club, ride a horse or dally a rope. He loved every minute he got to spend with them. He loved his family, and we will miss him so much. On February 4, 1992 he married Dorothy (Dot) Spoon of Vernal. They have been married for 21 years. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Dot) Broome of Vernal. His 3 children: Charline and (Landon) Ratliff of Amarillo, Texas Smokey and (Amber) Postma of Vernal, Utah Megan and ( Nick) Dean of Vernal, Utah 9 grandchildren 2 sisters Sandy (D.J.) Reynolds of Vernal Utah, Lori Hunting of Vernal Utah 3 brothers Greg and (Sabrina) Broome of Vernal Utah, Ron Broome of Vernal Utah and Terry and (Alana) Broome of Bakersfield California. And many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Loyal H. (Tunney) and Claris (Young) Broome and his brother Dale Broome. As I sit in Heaven and watch you every day, I try to let you know with signs I never went away. I hear you when you are laughing, and watch you as you sleep. I even place my arms around you to calm you as you weep. I see you wish the days away begging to have me home so I try to send you signs so you know you are not alone . Dont feel guilty that you have life that was denied to me. Heaven is truly beautiful just you wait and see. So live your life, laugh again enjoy yourself, be free. Then I know with every breath you take youll be taking one for me. Services for David will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary with a viewing Monday evening from 6-8. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
