Cody James Burrows passed away peacefully at home in Vernal, Utah, on April 4, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.

Cody was born on June 29, 1972, in Panguitch, Utah, to Laine Burrows and Christine Hatch. He grew up in Panguitch and Kanab, where he graduated from high school. Following graduation, he married Christy Bundy, with whom he had three children: Amanda, Trevor, and Clay Burrows. The family lived in Fredonia, Arizona; Tonopah and Ely, Nevada; and Neola, Utah, while Cody worked in the oil fields. Cody and Christy later divorced in 2006.

Cody eventually met Bernadette Trujillo in Ely, Nevada. They relocated to Vernal, Utah, where they spent 20 loving years together. Cody raised Bernadette’s children, Johnathan and Brittney, as his own. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, Alice, Adeline, Amber, Kody, Carter, Benjamin, Emmalyn, Jace, and Paisleigh, and another on the way, and found immense joy in the laughter and milestones of each and every one. Together, Cody and Bernadette enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing on their boat, creating a lifetime of memories with their children, grandchildren, and friends.

A dedicated truck driver, Cody spent much of his life on the road working tirelessly in the oil fields to provide for his family. He deeply valued his trucker community, including his boss, Pete, who thought of Cody as a son.

Cody will be remembered for his hard work and his deep devotion to his family and friends.

Cody is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette Burrows; his children, Amanda (Aaron) Derbridge, Clay (Sierra) Burrows, Johnathan (Heaven) Trevena, Brittney (Fiancé Cory Evans); his mother Christine (Robert) Hatch; his stepmother Kathleen Burrows; and his siblings Josh (Roseleah) Burrows, Christie (Jeremy) Madson, Shawn Merz, Jodie Tidwell (fiancé Brian Martin), Brandi (Colin) Sadlier, Heidi Heaton, and Jesse (Savannah) Tidwell.

He is also remembered by many other cherished family members and dear friends who will carry forward his memory and honor his life through the stories they shared and the love he gave so freely.

He was preceded in death by his son Trevor Burrows; his father Laine Burrows; his brother Pat Burrows; his nephew Jayden Burrows; and his grandparents Phil Burrows, Gene and Lamola Tait Howell, Smith and Jessie Willis, and Pete and Jessie Peterson
