Chree Lou Brough Karren was born on May 29,1943 to Mildred Robinson and George Brough in Randlett, Utah. She had four sisters Louise Martin, LaRae Brough, LaWanna Faircloth, and LaDonna Haslem.

Chree was married to Duane Karren from 1958 to 1985. Together they had four beautiful children Angie Steadman (Marv Steadman), Dave Karren (Stephanie Daniels Karren), Karl Karren (Tina Dwyer Karren), and Trudy Bond (Wayne Hansen). Together they raised their children in Camelot, 425 Meadow Road in Murray, Utah. Nothing was more important to Chree than her family. Chree was an amazing cook and prepared dinner for her family every evening. She sewed all the curtains in their home and made clothes for her children. She had a love for western music, western dancing, shopping, and jewelry.

As her family grew, Chree went back to college and earned her real estate license. She worked as a real estate agent for many years.

Chree was a very social person who made friends everywhere she went. During those interactions she was usually able to find a connection to Vernal. Chree was an active member of the Ashley Valley Calvary Chapel. Chree was dearly loved by the many pets who shared her life throughout the years, including Black Jack, Fluffy, Scooter, Nellie, and Trixie.

Chree had a true passion and gift for quilting. She made beautiful quilts for her 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. We all die in the middle of a project that we will never finish. At the time of Chree’s passing she was in the process of making four quilts for upcoming special events- two weddings and two soon to arrive great grandchildren. Chree’s gift for sewing extended far beyond her own family. She generously used her talents to make quilts for those in need.

Chree spent her last two weeks in the ICU, at LDS Hospital, following surgery. During this time she was surrounded by her family. Chree’s bed was arranged her final night to see the Northeast Salt Lake valley and mountain range. On Saturday, August 29, 2026 Chree passed away peacefully with her loving children by her side.

Chree is survived by her sisters Louise, LaWanna, and LaDonna; four children Angie (Marv), Dave (Stephanie), Karl (Tina), and Trudy

(Wayne); ten grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren with two more en route.

Chree was preceded in death by her father George, her mother Mildred, sister LaRae, and brother in law Max Martin.

There will be a viewing held September 5th, 2026 at 1:30 pm at Blackburn Mortuary in Vernal, Utah with a service to follow at 2:30pm . Chree will be laid to rest in the Avalon Cemetery, next to her father at a later date.
