Carol ReNae Rasmussen Schurz “ReNae” passed away peacefully at home on September 4th 2025, with the comfort of family beside her.
ReNae was born on June 13, 1942, in Lapoint, Utah to Jacob Merrill Rasmussen, and Vergie Ellen Blackburn. In 1957 ReNae met, fell in love with, and married her lifetime love Heber Rulon “Red” Schurz.
They welcomed their first child Jesse Lynn Schurz in January of 1958. In May of 1963 their second child, Penny Dena Schurz Hutchinson joined their family. Tina LaDawn Schurz Edgar, their third and final child was welcomed into their family in Dec. of 1965.
In 1966 Red and ReNae moved to Battle Mountain, NV where they purchased and ran the Ho-Motel for 13 years. After selling the hotel they moved to Jensen, UT for a short period and then moved on to Evanston Wyoming to manage a Mobil Home Park for 9 Years. ReNae and Red finished out their working years together as Bus Drivers for the Uintah School District and at Flaming George in the Summers.
ReNae lived a wonderful adventure full life with Red until his passing in 2017, nearly 60 full years of marriage.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Heber Rulon “Red” Schurz, and sisters; Clythella Trujillo and Deon Harvey.
ReNae is survived by her 3 wonderful children Jesse Lynn (Heather) Schurz, Penny Dena (Shane) Hutchinson, Tina LaDawn (Jason) Edgar, her 11 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, her sisters Veon Harvey, LaWanna Goodrich, and Lousie Bascom.
Any life that was touch by ReNae was made better for it. She lived by the motto, that was passed down to her by her father, “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours”. There was never a shortage fo smiles and laughter when ReNae was around.
She will be greatly missed by all of the lives she touched, and especially by her family.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10 AM at the Lapoint LDS Chapel, with viewings held Friday, from 6-8 PM at the Blackburn Mortuary and Saturday 1 hour prior to services at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Lapoint Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her forever love.
