Betty P Hayden

Betty Hayden, a lifelong resident of Rangely, passed away peacefully on May 11th after a long stay at the Rangely District Hospital.

Betty is survived by her husband Ken Hayden, her sons Mark Hayden (Donna) and Kris Hayden, her two grandchildren Tim Hayden (Karen) and Shanna Coulter and her four great-grandchildren Hunter Hayden, Kennedy Hayden, Kylan Coulter and Hayden Coulter.  She is also survived by her sisters Patty Powell (Walter) and Sandra Young.

Betty was preceded in death by her son Kent Carl Hayden and her parents Ray and Mossie Percifield.

Betty was born in Gillette, WY on August 15th 1935.   Her family moved to Wendover, NV in 1942 and to Rangely in 1947.  She graduated from Rangely High School in 1953 and married her high school sweetheart, Ken Hayden, a year later.  She worked for the Texas Oil Company for a few years and then started her family.

Betty enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids in any sport they participated in.  Her family always came first.  She loved going to the “high country” up the White River.  In 1954, Betty and Ken spent their honeymoon at Adams Lodge and every year after that, they spent their vacation at Marvine Campground until 5 years ago.  She loved camping with her family and friends and biking and hiking.  Betty was also quite a softball player back in her younger days.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on May 20th at the Rangely Christian Church with Minister Mike Chase officiating.
