Ayeliffe Lavonne Burnite Massey “Motsie” passed away October 5, 2023 at her daughters’ home in Vernal, Utah. She was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota to John and Selma Lang Burnite on November 14, 1929.
Motsie was a very active member at St. James Catholic Parish.
She was once chosen as lady of the year. She did a variety of jobs growing up picking cotton at just nine years old by her mother’s side. She was a waitress for many years, and also worked at Standard Saddle Tree, and for Brad McClellan and Randy Alexander making trees.
Motsie was also a school bus driver. She is loved by many and will be missed. She loved her family very much. She enjoyed, crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by her son, Gordon (Lori) Purcell of Heber City, UT., Jerome (Jean) Purcell of Rock Springs, WY., Deborah (Dale) Fisher, of Vernal, UT., Colleen (Jim) Guinn of Vernal, UT.
She is proceeded in death by her son Selmar Purcell, husband, Burrell John Massey, her parents, and granddaughter and three great granddaughter's two sisters and brother

Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 13, 2023 at the St. James Catholic Parish at 11 AM. Friends and family are welcome for a viewing at 10 AM prior to Mass.
Burial will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
