Audrey Slaugh

Audrey Evelyn Slaugh, age 89, has passed on. She was freed from her pain and returned to her heavenly home on Oct. 19. She had taken ill following complications resulting from a stroke and died at her home in vernal. Audrey was born in Colorado, September 3, 1926 to Wilber and Maggie Duncan. She moved to Vernal early in her life and raised her children here. Audrey worked hard her entire life to do her best for her family. She cooked, did leather work, ranch work and even chased wild horses in the Book Cliffs. Audrey loved the outdoors, animals and her family. She was a kind woman; everyone was welcome at her dinner table. She would open her home and heart to anyone who needed help. She enjoyed being in the mountains with her friends. She adores all kinds of animals. Audrey was devoted to her children; she never turned her back on her kids and loved them even when they were unlovable. Life was not always kind to Audrey but she was a survivor. She always found a way to make it through the tragedies, pain and disappointments that life sometimes gave her. She was a woman of quiet strength. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Rodney and her son Richard Brewer, and daughter Rhonda Alexander Karren. She is survived by her children, Sherrie Ellen Yates, Larry Brewer, Lyn Brewer, Randy Alexander, Charles Irwin Alexander, Janell Alexander Coyne, and Candace Alexander Huckabee. She has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss this kind, strong, good woman. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
