Philip J Murray, age 91, life time resistant of Vernal, returned home to meet his loving wife and loved ones on the other side. He passed away at this home on Saturday, May 5, 2018. He was born to Lewis Marion & Ida Elizabeth Willis Murray on April 24, 1927 in Vernal, Utah. He married his sweetheart Enid Goodrich on August 3, 1948 in Vernal, Utah the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. He served our county in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many positions; He especially enjoyed attending the temple. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, archery, snowmobiling, and traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Lynn) Shuman of Phoenix, Arizona; sons, Brad L. (Cynthia) Murray of Vernal; Alan G. (Kristi) Murray of Toledo, OH; 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great -great grandchildren; sisters, LuJean Murray (Marvin) Egan of Gillette Wyoming.
His wife, Enid Goodrich Murray, and son Michael J Murray preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Vernal 4th & Ashley 3rd Ward Chapel (235 East 600 South). Viewings for family and friends will be at the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary, Tuesday from 6-8 PM and at the Chapel from 9:30-10:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Jensen Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion and Navy Patriot Guard Riders. Under the care and direction of the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary & Cremation Care.
