Neldon Ray Slaugh

October 5, 1935 ~ September 7, 2019 (age 83)

Neldon Ray Slaugh returned home to his father in Heaven on September 7, 2019 at his home in Vernal, Utah. He was born October 5, 1935 in Vernal, Utah to Charles David and Rena Postma Slaugh. Neldon received many medals and held numerous records in high school track. He attended Utah State University on a track scholarship.  Neldon married the love of his life and sweetheart Gwena Lee Boren on August 23, 1957, later to be sealed in the Manti Temple on October 25 1962. Neldon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints, serving as a LDS Bishop, High Council man, temple worker, and various other callings through out his life.  

Neldon spent many hours in the Book Cliffs. He loved hunting for arrowheads, hunting & camping with his family, BYU football games and all kinds of sports. His heart was his family,they were the world to him.

 

Neldon is survived  by his wife of 62 years, Gwena Lee Slaugh; Children, Becky (Lloyd McNeel of Rock Springs, WY); Greg Slaugh of SLC, Utah; Janna (Todd) Merkley of Vernal, UT; Todd (Angie) Slaugh of Vernal, UT; Scott (Sue) Slaugh of Vernal, UT; 12 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Brothers, Darrell Slaugh of Vernal UT; Lynn Slaugh of Vernal UT. 

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Charlie & Rena Slaugh; grandparents, Benjamin & Rachel Slaugh and John & Nellie Postma.  Brothers: Royal, Clayton, Dean & Earl Slaugh.

 

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Uintah Stake Center. (4080 South 2500 East). Viewings will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary And at the Chapel on Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. Under the direction of Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary and Cremation Care.
