DeNile Smuin

April 21, 1940 ~ September 13, 2018 (age 78)

DeNile Smuin, passed away September 13, 2018 in Lakewood, Colorado, while on vacation with his family, after enduring many health problems.

DeNile was born, April 21, 1940 in Vernal, Utah, to Benjamin Gordon and Jennie Marie Watkins Smuin.

He married his sweetheart, Shirley Allred, April 21, 1961, in Vernal, Utah. They were blessed with four children: son Brent, daughters Brenda, Sherri Lyn, DeAnn.

He is survived by: wife Shirley, son Brent (Michelle) Smuin, daughter Deann, all of Vernal, Utah and grandson Dillon Smuin of New Mexico, siblings and their spouses: Rex and (Betty) Smuin, Vernal, Utah: Dixie and (Jim) Holmes, Heber City, Utah, Craig G. and (Marlene Smuin), Price Utah, sister-in-law: Lois Smuin, Kaysville, Utah

He was preceded in death by: daughters, Brenda and Sherri Lyn, father and mother: Benjamin Gordon and Jennie Marie Watkins Smuin. Siblings and their spouses: Kenneth and (Thelma Smuin), Keith and( Karma) Smuin, Doyle and( Mary) Smuin, Dale and( Bertie) Smuin, Joy and (Lamar) Quarnberg, Gene Smuin, Peggy and (Everett)Pitt, Pat and( Darlene) Smuin, sister-in-law: Maurine Brown Smuin.

DeNile was a veteran and served in the Utah National Guard.  He loved the outdoors and camping, but his greatest love was for his family.  DeNile was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Except for a short tour of duty in the military he spent his entire life in Vernal, Utah.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rock Point Chapel (2575 North 1500 West). Viewings will be Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Blackburn & Sons Mortuary and at the Chapel one hour prior to the services all at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion, Under the care and direction of the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary.
